    This auction is for a Scarce Antique Toy Flint Sandwich Glass Dish, Variant, c. 1835 - 1850. This is a wonderful scarce antique child's toy dish that is variant of a Sandwich glass dish. This Sandwich glass example has a diamond and scroll pattern in the center and a ring border. This toy glass dish is illustrated in Ruth Webb Lee's "Sandwich Glass" book, plate #83, where it was listed as scarce. The Alvina Breckel collection of Sandwich Glass toys contains numerous unlisted and unknown variant forms. The toy plates have several variants. One is illustrated in Ruth Webb Lee's Sandwich Glass" book, and she describes; "Avid collectors will find minor differences, such as the width of the scalloped edge, number of serrations, and the quality of stippling". She also mentions a variant with a beaded foot rim. Barlow describes the toy plate illustrated in his book, B#3344b as having a roped footrim. This collection has variants with plain, small beaded and large beaded footrims, which makes the appearance subtlely different from the front. The number of scallops in rims ranges from about 40 to as many as 70 scallops. I offer this scarce Sandwich glass toy dish with no reserve and a "Buy It Now".
