FYI:
Sun Viking
was the last of three similar ships built for Royal Caribbean,
being delivered from Helsinki builders Wartsila in 1972.
She is 18,455 grt and 563.3-ft, and differed from her two predecessors in that the bow was one deck higher, allowing a few additional cabins.
Unlike her "sisters", she was not lengthened. She initially operated on 7 and 14-day cruise out of Miami,
but later served throughout the world, breaking new territories for RCCL,
when superseded by larger ships in the Caribbean.
In 1998 the
Sun Viking
was sold to Star Cruises and briefly renamed
SuperStar Sagittarius
.
In the same year she was transferred to Hyundai Merchant Marine Co.
and renamed
Hyundai Pongnae
. She remained with Hyundai until 2003
when she was moved to Asia Cruises and renamed
Omar III.
The ship was renamed
Long Jie
in 2007. The
Long Jie
was put up for sale
on June 10, 2010. After being dry docked in Singapore, the
Long Jie
was transformed into the
Oriental Dragon
, leaving Singapore on
March 24, 2011 bound for Guangzhou, China.
She is currently based in Hong Kong as a gambling ship.
