The following is found in an early Hassidic work: "The Holy One blessed be He, revealed this Psalm [67] to King David engraved on a golden plate in the form of a menorah which was also shown to Moses. King David carried the Emblem of Psalm 67 in the form of a menorah on his Shield [Magen David] into battle."
